No Man Is An Island
Olle Nymans ateljéer, Strandpromenaden 61, 131 50 Saltsjö-Duvnäs 9 August - 7 September 2025 Liu Chien-Kuang arbetar med glas som ett levande material laddat med berättelser. Hans skulpturala verk förenar blåsningens tradition med element av trä och papper – material som präglat hans uppväxt i Taiwan. Genom att återbesöka glömda tekniker och forma nya uttryck undersöker han hur kulturarv, identitet och makt speglas i det materiella.
Verken rör sig i spänningsfältet mellan östasiatiska formspråk och europeiskt konsthantverk. Här blir glaset både kropp och minne – ett sätt att gestalta komplexa förhållanden till historia, migration och tillhörighet. I Liu Chien-Kuangs praktik är handen central, men också det osynliga: det som formats av tid, plats och berättelser som riskerar att gå förlorade. |

GLAS Stockholm
Galleri Glas, Nybrogatan 34, Stockholm 28 May - 9 August 2025 Genom en mångfald av tekniker och konstnärliga uttryck skapar dessa konstnärer ett sammanhållet men distinkt formspråk – djärvt, visionärt och djupt uttrycksfullt. Deras konstnärliga praktik berör teman såsom kulturellt arv, traditionellt hantverk, surrealism och alkemi, vilka omtolkas genom avancerade och innovativa tekniker. Exempelvis förenar Ulrika Barr sandgjutning och glasblåsning i ett banbrytande samspel, medan Liu Chien-Kuang har förfinat den utsökta italienska Reticello-tekniken, en sällsynthet i Sverige. Simon Klenell tänjer på glasets estetiska gränser genom sin förfinade försilvringsteknik, Carina Seth Andersson experimenterar lekfullt med material såsom svart lavasand och metalloxider, och Rasmus Nossbring utmanar konventionerna genom att omforma industriella objekt med sina unika hot-sculpting-metoder. Tillsammans gestaltar de en konstnärlig energi som speglar Stockholms kulturella vitalitet och kreativitet.

Arahant 羅漢
Soil Space, Tainan, Taiwan 27 July - 20 August 2024 〈Arahant〉is a record of exactly ten years since I left Taiwan in 2014. When I have been wandering in a different place for a long time and am not familiar with the language and cultural background, glass is the medium for my creation and the tool I use to communicate and tell stories. I use creation to mark the change in my attitude toward nature, society, and materials. It is a transition from unfamiliarity to familiarity. However, the land that I thought we should be familiar with has undergone a qualitative change in the same span of time. I am a wanderer in different places.

Stone from other mountain- pass, present, future

Since I moved to Sweden, people have always asked about my origins, it made me realize my limited understanding of Taiwan – the country I grew up in. On a visit to the National Museum of Taiwan History, I saw a stone ax in the collections. When I saw the shape and structure of the object, I had a strong feeling of wanting to portray it in glass, the material I master,"

Glass is hard to control, and hard to define. All its paradoxes as a material, makes it full of potential for symbolism. These properties are reasons why it can be associated with the luxurious, even decadent; something one would expect to do without in times of crises.
